On December 8, Oreanna Myers, 25, used a shotgun to kill her three kids, including Kian, 4, Aarikyle, 3, and Haiken, 1, as well as her two stepkids, Shaun, 7, and Riley, 6, in Fairlea, West Virginia, according to local authorities.
After the massacre, Oreanna Myers set her five-bedroom West Virginia farmhouse ablaze.
Then, in a grand culmination of this horrific act of slaughter and destruction, police say Myers shot herself outside of the home as it was engulfed in flames.
Cops confirmed she then set fire to their five-bedroom farmhouse and fatally shot herself outside as it burned to the ground, with fire-fighters searching for days amongst the rubble for remains.
Raven Bumgarner, the West Virginia mother of the two murdered stepchildren, told The Sun that Oreanna Myers was obsessed with witchcraft.
Bumgarner reported that Myers often staged elaborate rituals and harbored a considerable collection of tarot cards, crystals and dead butterflies that she kept in jars.
“She was into witchcraft, she would post things on her Facebook and Instagram,” Bumgarner reported.
Metro News reports that Oreanna Myers’ body was found near a picnic table adjacent to her home, which was totally leveled and reduced to nothing but ash by the fire.
In several notes left behind, Myers said she was suffering from mental illness.
In Oreanna Myers’ suicide note, discovered by West Virginia authorities, she stated, “This is no one’s fault but my own. My demons won over me. Sorry, I wasn’t strong enough.”
The new report about Myers’ penchant for witchcraft only adds to the mystery of her tragic actions.
“She was always talking about the phases of the moon and these rituals and tarot cards and different books and witchy things,” reported Raven Bumgarner. “She was like, ‘Oh this moon is in this phase, this is a ritual for new beginnings, I’m going to go and run naked in the fields.”
CBS Pittsburgh reports that Oreanna Myers’ husband was not at their West Virginia home the night of the fiery slaughter, and that his absence was in fact a source of contention between him and his wife.
Myers’ husband stayed with relatives instead of at home during the workweek due to transportation issues, Sloan said. Text messages between Myers and her husband showed that his absence during the week had been “a tremendous source of contention” between them.
According to Raven, her ex-husband knew about Myers’ “bizarre” fixation with the world of witchcraft.
“She had a glass jar together that she had for Brian with some of her crystals, and she collected dead butterflies, she had them in jars,” Raven said of the witchcraft Oreanna Myers practiced before the West Virginia mom killed five kids and herself.
Indeed, Myers’ Instagram page is loaded with witchy images, including spiritual memes and pictures of jars filled with dead insects.
The Daily Mail reports that when West Virginia authorities discovered Oreanna Myers’ dead body, they found that she had a red line drawn across her face.
The mysterious line was seen on surveillance video when Myers had gone to pick up two of her sons from the bus stop at the end of the school day. One of the boys asked her if it was blood on her face, but Myers replied she had just drawn the line.
