Observations from Saturday’s Mets workout:
Shortstop goes long
Francisco Lindor has arrived with some pop. The Mets star shortstop crushed a home run to deep center field off Taijuan Walker during a live batting practice session on a back field.
Rain, rain go away
The first rain during full-squad workouts rolled through Saturday morning, forcing an outfielders meeting with mental performance coach Josh Lifrak from the bullpen to underneath a porch for cover.
Caught my eye
A pitch after fouling the ball off his leg and hitting the deck in live BP against Edwin Diaz, Pete Alonso swung so hard his bat went flying over the third base dugout for a strikeout. No bystanders were harmed.
The Mets will have their last full-squad workout before Grapefruit League play begins Monday against the Marlins.
